About Project Master Thatching
A registered thatching company based in Muldersdrift, Gauteng — building, restoring, and maintaining thatch roofs across South Africa since 2014.
Our Story
Project Master Thatching was founded in 2014 by Walter, a master thatcher who learned the trade hands-on and built the business one roof at a time. Today the team has completed more than 500 roofs — from garden lapas and pool entertainment areas to full thatched homes, lodges, and commercial venues.
We're based in Muldersdrift on Gauteng's West Rand, which puts us within easy reach of Johannesburg, Pretoria, Sandton, Centurion, Krugersdorp, Roodepoort, and the Hartbeespoort area. Most of our work comes from referrals and repeat clients — the kind of reputation you only earn by showing up when you said you would and standing behind the work after you're paid.
Every roof we build or restore is treated with SANS 10407-compliant fire retardant, and we supply the documentation your insurer needs. We quote for what the roof actually requires — if a repair will do, we won't sell you a re-thatch.
